2020/21 Ice Land Hockey Academy

2020 Ice Land Hockey Academy - Midget AAA/Juniors
Off-Season Training Program run out of Ice Land Arena!

The AAA program offers a professionally developed training program geared towards the elite, tier one players. The players will be in one of four groups - U15, U16, U18 and/or U20 for Showcases.  Emphasis is placed on player development and skill development.  The program offers the following for players at most levels:

  • Skill and game-system based on-ice training.
  • Professionally developed off-ice training.
  • Exposure to Ice Land’s junior affiliates, the Youngstown Phantoms (USHL) and Maryland Black Bears (NAHL).
  • Full-ice tournaments with high exposure - see tournament schedule below.
  • Advisory role for the players - coaching staff has helped place over 40 players into D1, D3, tier one and tier two juniors. Full reference list upon request.

Philosophy

Our focus is on complete player development and exposure for this important time in a player’s path to college/pro hockey. Our program is tailored for individual player skill, strength and mental development in a team environment.  It is called the off-season for a reason. Our goal is to make sure every athlete leaves the off-season a significantly better hockey player, with a better plan for the following season.

Practices

On-ice practices will be designed to cover all areas of the game and run at a high pace against other elite players at specific age groups.  Players will be broken into two groups: 2004 and 2003 birthyears and 2002 – 2000 birthyears. Practices, both on and off ice, will be Tuesday and Thursday nights. Starting time will be between 6pm and 9:15pm.

Off Ice Plyometric Training

We are working with DeMarco Training, right the in cul-de-sac with Ice Land!  Joe has been an amazing asset to our program this past year and we look forward to continuing our work with him. The boys will get stronger and quicker – they will be pushed very hard.

DeMarco Training Systems, the proven leader in Sports Performance Training for 22 years. DeMarco Training Systems is proud to have trained 12 State Championship teams as well as thousands of All State, All County, All American and Professional Athletes from all sports. Since 1996, DeMarco Training has implemented a unique and integrated training system that will challenge your athlete to become the very best he or she can be.

Each and every athlete is treated with individual attention regardless of whether training alone or in a large team training. Athletes begin with an evaluation process to identify issues relating to proper athletic functions and proper training techniques, as well as any compensation issues that may arise due to prior injuries. Working to correct these issues are keys to a successful training program, especially when it comes to hockey. After corrected, the proper plan of action is implemented to ensure a successful program and achieve the goals set forth during the evaluation period. Whether size, power, speed, agility, balance, flexibility, nutrition, coordination or mobility, the DeMarco Training Systems proven methods will challenge the athlete to be the very best they can be.

For coaches, this is a determining factor, it gives them the best team that they can put out on the ice and allows them to focus on technical and tactical training.

Scrimmages and Tournaments

This will be run separately but we have three teams:

U16   - Chowder Cup

U18  -  Pre Draft

U20  - Pre Draft and Battle of Boston

Games are an important part of development. Also, for midget players, exposure is very important during these summer months.

Our coaches utilize the games/tournaments to:

  • Evaluate the individual player's skills, hockey IQ, effort/compete and to help push them to the appropriate team for the next season.
  • Teach the team how to play at the highest level and to compete against some of the top AAA / junior players in the country.

These registration links will be separate and in addition to the on/off ice training component.
